Architectural coatings are quality controlled by performing Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements using  electronic instrumentation such as a Elcometer 456 Coating thickness gauge. NACE protocol is also followed by performing a Pull off Strength adhesion test to verify it complies with manufacturers warranty requirements.

This field test method is employed to obtain an estimated remaining life of Insulated Glass Units (IGU). The test is typically performed on buildings between 10 and 20 years old.
